iPhone X promises to level up what a smartphone is capable of. Find out about the 10 best features and if I think they live up to the hype.
iPhone X is one of the biggest releases in iPhone technology since the beginning of Apple. This newest iPhone build brings many innovative features. Apple released two coinciding new phones, iPhone 8 and iPhone X. If you haven’t heard much about iPhone 8, the reason is it’s sitting in the shadow of its big brother. If you’ve been debating on whether or not you should upgrade your phone, now is the time. Everything the phone has to offer is of incredible value. The price may look steep, but you definitely get what you pay for, and payment plans are made available.
Let’s take a look at the hot new features iPhone X has to offer.
Touch ID is being replaced by an intelligent feature called Face ID. Instead of touching your phone to unlock, you pick it up and it recognizes your facial features. iPhone X projects dots onto your face to map it using the front camera. It can recognize your face during the day, and thanks to infrared, when it’s dark. Face ID is proven to be secure and safe in all of Apple’s pre-release tests. While Samsung and Galaxy had an issue with people using other individual’s photos to hack into their phones, Apple assures it’s users, this will not be a problem. Face ID uses machine learning to adapt to changes in your face. If you grew a beard, got a haircut, put on makeup, it doesn’t matter. Face ID can still recognize your facial features and details as your own.
Brilliant Super Retina display
This new display is the first of its kind, called the “Super Retina Display.” The screen is no longer an LCD but is now an OLED (organic light-emitting diode). This display works without a backlight and gives deeper blacks. It is thinner than an LCD and extends from edge to edge, covering the entire iPhone X front. There is no longer a curve on the screen or a bezel, making the screen entirely flat. Do you like watching movies or TV on your iPhone? Now you can do it without comprising any resolution. It’s built for HDR video playback and performs with high contrast.
Apple now allows you to wirelessly charge your phones. You can use any QI standard charging pad and simply set your phone on it to charge. Apple hinted that they will be creating their own charging pads to be released to the public within the next year or so. Apple provided a few different options for charging pads they believe to be the most compatible and work the best with their products. Charging time is the fastest it’s ever been, allowing for a full charge in just thirty minutes. The charge time also lasts longer. In a recent test, it proved to last two hours longer than iPhone 7.
Get ready to step up your photography game with Apple’s new cameras. The rear camera features a 12-megapixel dual lens with image stabilization. The dual lenses include a wide angle lens and a telephoto lens. The new front camera supports portrait mode, exposure control and also features image stabilization. Say goodbye to blurry images!
A new lighting effect has been implemented into the design, making for better true colors and pixel processing. Apple has also upgraded it’s video to 4K, giving you the option to do 60fps or if you’re feeling like slow-motion, 24fps.
It’s still water resistant, a feature carried over from the iPhone 7. If you splash water on your iPhone, you don’t have to freak out. It’s protected by an IP67 water resistance rating. You could actually drop your phone in shallow water for up to a half an hour and it wouldn’t be affected. It’s also fully protected from dust, featuring the highest dust protection rating of IP6X.
Limited Color Choices
Some may see this as a not so cool feature, but for those of you that have problems making decisions, this is a benefit. Space Gray and Silver are the colors that come with the release, with rumors of other colors being released at a later date. At least Apple is keeping us all professional, right?
Easier to hold
iPhone X is smaller than all of the plus models Apple has released and just a tad bigger than the non-plus models. However, it doesn’t give up any of the screen size because entire front of the phone is all screen. If you really wanted to get the big screen when Apple released plus versions of iPhones but didn’t because of the phone size, you may want to revisit that thought with iPhone X. Easier to hold also means easier to text. With Apple’s new iOS release, they make it simpler to text with one hand as well. Your keyboard can be moved over to the side of the screen that you use the most.
Creating yourself into an emoji is the easiest it’s ever been. Apple takes their front-facing True Depth camera and creates a map of your face. It then applies it to your favorite emoji. The emoji mimics your facial expressions and uses the same facial recognition technology as it does for Face ID. If you’re wanting to spice up your text messages, this is a way you can do that!
No home button
Apple completely eliminated the home button from the new iPhone. Not only does it not have a button on the front, the option to select home doesn’t exist at all. Instead of clicking the home button, you’ll exit apps by a flicking motion, causing your app to close out and return you to the home screen. There are actions that have changed significantly with this new phone. Though the home button no longer exists, it may actually be easier to unlock your screen. Unlock it by simply swiping up from the bottom edge.
The processors in this iPhone are faster than any other iPhone released. It is stated to be 25% faster than the iPhone 7 and operates on a six-core processor. This means you can play more games on your phone and it will be more efficient and not lag.
Choosing iPhone X Is An Easy Decision
Apple really outdid themselves with this new release. After reading this list of features, you can understand why. These new features and latest iOS release receive a five out of five star rating.
